SMILE Pro laser vision correction · Himayat Nagar

Glasses-free vision with SMILE Pro, without a corneal flap.

SMILE Pro is the latest generation of SMILE, keyhole laser vision correction for short-sight, done through a tiny opening with no corneal flap. For the right eyes it means a gentle procedure, a quick recovery, and freedom from glasses and contact lenses, but only after we confirm your cornea is right for it.

How it's different

No flap. Just a tiny opening.

LASIK creates and lifts a thin flap; SMILE Pro does not. The laser shapes a small lenticule inside the cornea, and it is drawn out through a 2-4mm opening. Far less of the corneal surface is disturbed, which is gentler on the nerves that govern dry eye and keeps more of the cornea's natural strength. Dr. H. Siva Mohan Reddy performs the procedure personally.

Why people choose it

What flapless actually gives you.

These are the real, practical reasons SMILE Pro suits certain eyes, stated plainly, not as a sales pitch.

Flapless

With no flap, there is no flap to dislodge later, reassuring if you play sport or live an active life.

Kinder to dry eyes

Disturbing fewer surface nerves tends to mean less post-procedure dry eye than a flap-based approach.

Quick, gentle recovery

The laser step takes seconds and most people are seeing well within a day or two.

The ZEISS VISUMAX 800

SMILE Pro runs on the latest ZEISS VISUMAX 800, with finer alignment and centration for a quicker, more precise treatment.

One surgeon, start to finish

The surgeon who examines you is the one who operates.

At many busy centres, one person consults you, another operates, and a third sees you afterwards. Here, the same senior surgeon stays with you through your SMILE Pro, and every visit after.

1
Examines youAn unhurried consultation with the surgeon, not a sales desk.
2
Operates on youThe same surgeon performs the procedure, personally.
3
Looks after youAnd sees you at every follow-up afterwards.
Before you choose any eye surgeon

Questions worth asking, of anyone.

Your sight is not where to bargain-hunt. Ask these of any practice you are considering:

  • Will I meet the surgeon who will operate, before the day?
  • Will the same surgeon perform my surgery and my follow-ups?
  • Is the lens or plan chosen for my eye and my life, or for a package?
  • If something needs attention afterwards, who handles it?
  • Will someone tell me honestly if I don't need surgery yet?

At Dr. P. Siva Reddy Eye Hospital, the answer to every one of these is yes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SMILE Pro and LASIK?

In LASIK the surgeon creates and lifts a thin flap on the cornea, then reshapes the surface underneath. SMILE Pro is flapless, the laser shapes a small lens-shaped piece of tissue inside the cornea, which is removed through a tiny 2-4mm opening. Both correct short-sight well. Because SMILE disturbs less of the surface, it can be gentler on dry eyes and keep more of the cornea's natural strength. Which suits you depends on your eyes, and we will tell you honestly.

Is SMILE Pro painful, and what is recovery like?

Numbing drops mean little to no pain during the procedure itself, most people feel pressure rather than pain. Afterwards there is usually mild grittiness and watering for a day or so, and most people are seeing well within a day or two. Your surgeon gives you a clear aftercare plan and sees you personally at the follow-ups.

Does SMILE Pro treat astigmatism or long-sight?

SMILE Pro treats short-sight (myopia) and short-sight combined with astigmatism. It does not treat long-sight (hyperopia). If you are long-sighted, we will talk you through LASIK or lens-based options instead, rather than fit you to the wrong procedure.

Am I suitable for SMILE Pro?

It depends on your corneal thickness and shape and on a stable prescription. Thin or irregular corneas, keratoconus, or an unstable prescription can rule it out. We measure your cornea carefully with topography and tomography and tell you the truth, sometimes LASIK or ICL is the better fit, and sometimes the honest answer is that no laser procedure is right for you.

Is the correction permanent?

The correction itself is permanent. Your eyes can still change naturally over the years, for example, you will still develop presbyopia and need reading help in your forties, as everyone does. That is the eye ageing, not the SMILE Pro wearing off.

What makes SMILE Pro different from the older SMILE?

SMILE Pro is the latest generation, performed here on the ZEISS VISUMAX 800. The laser step is faster and it adds finer alignment and centration controls, which makes the experience quicker and the treatment more precise. The core idea, flapless correction through a tiny opening, is the same.

What does SMILE Pro cost?

It depends on your prescription and your eyes, which the surgeon explains clearly at your suitability visit, once we know SMILE Pro is genuinely right for you. You are welcome in Himayat Nagar; book a suitability check on WhatsApp or by phone.
