Told you need eye surgery? Get an honest second opinion.
TL;DR
If you have been told you need eye surgery and you are not sure, a calm second opinion is reasonable, and very common. At PSR, the senior surgeon re-examines you personally, shows you your own scans, and explains in plain language whether surgery is needed now, later, or not at all. We are an independent single hospital, not a referral chain, so there is no pressure to operate. You can send your reports on WhatsApp first.
Why a second opinion is reasonable, and common
Being told you need eye surgery is a big moment, and it is fair to want to understand it fully before you decide. People come to us most often after being advised cataract surgery, after a glaucoma diagnosis, or after surgery was recommended somewhere else and something did not feel clear. None of that means the first doctor was wrong. It simply means you want a second careful look, and that is a sensible thing to want.
The timing of cataract surgery in particular is something patients ask about a great deal: a cataract that is not yet limiting your daily life can often wait, and you deserve to know which camp you are in. Glaucoma is the other common reason, because it is a lifelong condition where a clear, unhurried explanation matters.
How we do a second opinion
We do not work from your old report alone. The senior surgeon re-examines you in person, repeats the measurements that matter for your case, and then sits with you to go through the findings. You see your own scans on the screen, and we explain what they show in language you can follow, not jargon.
You will leave knowing one of three things
By the end of the visit we tell you, honestly, whether surgery is needed now, whether it can reasonably wait and be watched, or whether you do not need it at all. If it can wait, we tell you what to look out for and when to come back. If it is needed, we explain why, what it involves, and what your options are.
No pressure, ever
This is the part that matters most. We are a single hospital run by one senior surgeon, not a chain with surgical targets, so we have no reason to recommend a procedure you do not need. A genuinely independent second opinion has to be willing to say "you do not need this yet," and we are. If that is the honest answer for you, that is what you will hear.
Are we genuinely independent?
Yes. Independence is the whole point of a second opinion, so it is worth being clear about why ours is real. We re-examine you and form our own view rather than rubber-stamping a report. We have no referral arrangement that benefits from sending you to surgery. And because the surgeon who examines you is the same one who would treat you, there is no hand-off where the advice changes. You are simply getting one experienced ophthalmologist's honest read of your own eyes.
What to bring
Bring whatever you already have. Previous prescriptions, any test reports, OCT or visual field printouts, scan images, and a list of your current eye drops or medicines. If you only have photos of the reports on your phone, that is fine, send them on WhatsApp ahead of time and we will tell you what else, if anything, to bring.
What it involves
A second opinion is a standard consultation with the senior surgeon, who examines you and explains your reports and scans. If any further test is genuinely useful for your case, we explain why before doing it, so there are no surprises.
Send your reports first, if you like
The easiest way to start is to send your existing reports and prescriptions on WhatsApp. We will give you a sense of what to expect, suggest what to bring, and help you pick a time. We are in Himayat Nagar, trusted in Hyderabad since 1975, with 4.9★ across 1,106 Google reviews.

Frequently asked questions
What should I bring for a second opinion?
Bring any previous prescriptions, test reports, scans, and a list of your eye drops or medicines. If you have OCT or visual field printouts, bring those too. The more your surgeon can see, the more useful the review.
Will you just agree with the other doctor?
No. We re-examine you ourselves and form our own view. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we suggest waiting, and sometimes we recommend a different path. We tell you honestly either way, with the reasons.
Is your second opinion really independent?
Yes. We are a single hospital run by one senior surgeon, not a referral chain. We have no reason to push a surgery you do not need. If waiting and watching is reasonable, we will say so.
What does a second opinion cost?
A second opinion is a standard consultation with the senior surgeon, who examines you and explains your reports and scans. If any further tests are advised, we explain those before doing them. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll guide you.
Can I send my reports before visiting?
Yes, and we encourage it. Send your prescriptions, reports, and scan photos on WhatsApp. We will give you a sense of what to expect and what to bring, then confirm a time that suits you.
Do you give second opinions for cataract and glaucoma?
Yes. The two most common reasons people come to us for a second opinion are being told a cataract needs surgery now, and being told they have glaucoma. We review both calmly and explain your own findings to you.
I was told I need surgery urgently. Should I still get a second opinion?
A genuine emergency needs prompt care. During our OPD hours we will see you promptly; outside them, a hospital with round-the-clock care is the right place. But many advised surgeries are not urgent, and a short pause for a clear second opinion is reasonable. Send your reports on WhatsApp and we will guide you on timing.
